Streaming is the preferred method of consuming media in modern society. There used to be a small number of streaming services available, but now there are dozens, if not hundreds, of options available to choose from.
It seems as though current viewers may pick and choose from an almost infinite number of entertainment options, whether it’s a premium service like Netflix or Hulu or a smaller one like Curiosity Stream or Crackle.
Obviously, there are a lot of companies vying for a piece of the streaming market. Xfinity is no exception, with their Xfinity Flex streaming gadget serving as a worthy opponent in a sea of streaming devices. What is Xfinity Flex, exactly? Other streaming devices such as Roku and Apple TV are also available. Investigating Xfinity’s flagship streaming device, we discovered the answers we needed.
Broadly speaking, Xfinity Flex is a streaming media player in the same vein as Amazon Fire TV and Roku Ultra. In addition to supporting 4K playback, it includes an Xfinity Voice Remote for hands-free voice control,
and it can connect to virtually any HDMI-equipped TV or display. Netflix, Disney+, Hulu, Prime Video, YouTube, HBO Max, and Spotify are all supported by the box. Basically, it does everything you’d expect from a reliable streaming device.
Xfinity Flex is where it gets interesting. You don’t have to pay for the box itself (at least the first one). The only caveat is that Xfinity Flex can only be used with Xfinity Internet service, which is only available as part of a bundle.
The Xfinity Flex streaming box is included in every Xfinity plan, from 50Mbps to 1,200Mbps. That is to say that you must pay for your Xfinity internet service even if you don’t pay for the box. Another possible caveat is
if you decide to buy a second Xfinity Flex because you like it so much. The cost of each additional Xfinity Flex adds $5 to your recurring monthly charges. Your entire house may be outfitted with Xfinity streaming boxes. Just be aware of the additional expenses that may result.
Delivering Xfinity Flex to your door or picking up the equipment in person is possible. The Flex 4K streaming TV box, Xfinity Voice Remote, power adapter HDMI cable, and Getting Started package are all included in your purchase…
The Getting Started kit contains all the information you need to get started quickly. Use our activation guide or get in touch with our support team if you need help. When you activate the streaming TV box, you’ll need the phone number linked to your account.
During the activation procedure, your Xfinity Flex streaming TV Box will immediately connect to the internet if you’re renting a Gateway. During activation, you’ll be asked to manually set up WiFi if you’re using a purchased qualifying modem.
As you set up your Xfinity Flex streaming TV box, keep an eye out for helpful hints like how to use your voice to discover content or how to sync your favorite applications.
With Xfinity Flex, you may stream on any of the major platforms. When it comes to streaming, the Xfinity Flex can allow you to watch your favorite Marvel Studios shows on Disney+ or your favorite box office hits on HBO Max.
A number of free apps, such as Cheddar News and XUMO are also supported by the box. All Xfinity Flex customers also receive a complimentary Peacock Premium subscription. If rewatching The Office is something you’d like to do, this is a compelling and free option.

After you’ve activated your Xfinity internet service, setting up an Xfinity Flex is a rather simple task. Power cord, HDMI cable, voice remote, and Getting Started book are all included with the device’s Getting Started Kit.
In order to use the Xfinity Flex, you first need to connect your TV to the Xfinity Flex through HDMI. After that, all you have to do is plug in the Xfinity Flex and follow the onscreen instructions.
In order to use Voice Guidance, which will speak activation instructions to you, the device will ask you to select a language and then attempt to automatically connect with your Wi-Fi. Xfinity Flex will urge you to authenticate your account by entering the last four digits of any phone number on your Xfinity account once a Wi-Fi connection has been established.
Aside from that, you may use the Xfinity Flex to customize the device by giving it a name, setting up surround sound audio playback, and configuring the voice remote to control your TV’s power and volume.
