Deputy Chairman of Commission I DPR RI Abdul Haris checks the readiness of South Sulawesi (South Sulawesi) to face the transition of analog TV to digital or analog switch off (ASO) on November 2, 2022.Abdul Haris emphasized that supporting infrastructure such as the set top box (STB) must really be paid attention to."I think the issue of the readiness of the set top box, I think there must be even harder efforts from various stakeholders to prepare for November 2, 2022," Haris told reporters after attending the presentation of the Progress Report on the Migration of Analog to Digital Television Broadcasts in South Sulawesi, which was held at the Gammara Hotel, Makassar. , Thursday (15/9/2022).Abdul Haris said the government should be able to think about how the STB can be accessed by the public outside the recipients of the free STB.He asked the government to actively provide stock of STB in the market for residents who want to buy."We emphasized that we need to find a breakthrough, find a solution that can be an alternative that can solve the problem (availability for residents who want to buy STB). One of them is the availability of set top boxes in the market," he explained.Currently, Abdul Haris said that the people of South Sulawesi have started to switch from analog TV to digital gradually independently. That way, the government must anticipate the needs of the community so that the STB is still met."You can imagine that the TV is dead, it can't receive broadcasts, but if you want to find a device, it doesn't exist. That's why we emphasized that it must be prepared in such a way that by November 2, 2022, there must be sufficient STB available on the market to anticipate all of this. " he insisted.Nevertheless, Abdul Haris appreciated the ASO infrastructure in South Sulawesi which was considered ready. However, he still encourages the government to maximize areas that have not been able to access digital TV channels."Earlier, it has been explained from the infrastructure side that the switch off for multiplexing is ready. What must be prepared again are the areas that have not yet entered the name, which they do not have access to," he explained. In line with that, Kominfo special staff Rosalina Niken said that before November 2, 2022 Kominfo will begin to carry out multiple ASOs for areas that have their infrastructure and STB ready.Multiple ASO is the termination of analog TV channels and only applies digital TV channels."Therefore, before that date, Kominfo has conducted multiple ASO. So the multiple ASO is for areas that have finished providing digital TV infrastructure and have finished distributing STB for poor households, the area will be discontinued," he explained.Until now, said Niken, the overall preparation for the transition from analog TV to digital TV in all parts of Indonesia is almost complete.Niken detailed the presentation of ASO preparation in terms of infrastructure, broadcast program migration, as well as community readiness surveys that have reached the percentage of 80% to 90%."80.36% progress for broadcasting infrastructure, 82% of analog to digital broadcast program migration has been completed. In Indonesia 693 broadcasting institutions, 552 have broadcast simultaneously, 88.8% are ready for ASO. People's readiness to migrate from analog 99.29% digital, people already know about the socialization (switching from analog TV to digital TV)," he explained.
