With its gigantic and dazzling interior, the 2022 Jeep Grand Wagoneer is considered one of the largest and grandest Jeeps ever.
The full-size American luxury SUV segment is one of the most heated segments out there and the offerings from GMC, Cadillac, and Lincoln have been ruling it for quite some time. The luxurious cabin coupled with unmatched ride and impressive equipment list made these offerings the go-to choice for the buyers too. However, the brand new 2022 Jeep Grand Wagoneer is set to take things further in this highly competitive segment with its purposeful styling, refined interior, and unmatched performance.
Jeep is a brand that is quite synonymous with its towing and off-road capabilities and the 2022 Grand Wagoneer can do both with ease. The 471 hp V8 engine managed to put down impressive acceleration times, and it can also tow a maximum of 10,000 lbs. The spacious cabin and top-notch equipment level are some of the other plus points of this offering which starts at an MSRP of $88,640. With the fierce competition from the likes of Cadillac Escalade and Lincoln Navigator, here are 10 things you need to know before buying the 2022 Jeep Grand Wagoneer.

The massive exterior dimensions of the 2022 Jeep Grand Wagoneer coupled with the aggressive styling make it quite macho to look at from any angle. When viewed from straight ahead, the Grand Wagoneer's striking LED headlights with LED DRLs, 7-slot grille, and unmatched ground clearance and height make it appear butcher than the rivals.
The side profile stands out due to its length and wheelbase, both of which turned out to be better than the BMW X7 and Lincoln Navigator. The silver roof rails, tri-pane sunroof, and a selection of 20" or 22" wheels gels well with the overall design too. The rear end looks similar to many other offerings from the Jeep lineup, however, the overall design works well.
Being an offering from Jeep, the standard equipment and features on the interior are next to none. Even though the starting price tag of the Grand Wagoneer was slightly more than the rivals like the Navigator and Escalade ESV, the base Series I trim comes loaded with all the bells and whistles that you wouldn't even find standard in the rivals.
The standard features include 24-way power adjustable seats with massage, four-zone automatic climate control, personalized ambient lighting, power-folding third row, 60/40 split rear seat, a Uconnect infotainment system, and a panoramic sunroof. If you explore the optional list and packages, you can spot even more comfort and convenience features.

Unlike the 2022 Jeep Wagoneer, the cabin of the Grand Wagoneer doesn't feel compromised in terms of cabin and cargo space. Being a three-row full-size SUV that can accommodate seven passengers as standard, the Grand Wagoneer has more than enough headroom, legroom, and shoulder room on all three rows.
You can also get the bench seat for the middle row if you want the versatility of an 8-seater full-size SUV. There are many storage spaces on the inside and the door pockets and glove box are pretty wide and deep. With the rear and middle row being capable of folding down, the 2022 grand Wagoneer can also take in quite a lot of cargo.
Coming with a 471-hp producing naturally aspirated V8 engine with no mild hybrid assist and a heavy curb weight of 6,340 lbs, the 2022 Jeep Grand Wagoneer will not win any awards for its frugality. It achieved 13 MPG in the city and 18 MPG on the highways, equating to combined gas mileage of just 15 MPG.
Even though the 26.5-gallon fuel tank capacity was better than some of the competitors, the mediocre fuel efficiency on offer means that the grand Wagoneer offers just about adequate tank range too. The BMW X7 topped the chart here with combined gas mileage of 21 MPG. Both the Lincoln Navigator and Cadillac Escalade ESV also did slightly better than the Jeep.

The 2022 Jeep Grand Wagoneer comes with three displays as standard for all the trims. This includes a well-laid-out digital gauge cluster that delivers all the necessary information to the driver. Along with that, there is also a 12" touchscreen infotainment screen and a lower 10.3" touchscreen which consists of all the HVAC controls.
All the trims except the base trim come with a 10.3" touchscreen display for the front seat passenger. The standard features include Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, SiriusXM radio, navigation, and wi-fi hotspot connectivity. You can also opt for the rear seat entertainment system and a powerful 23-speaker audio system.
The myriad of driver-assistance techs that comes as standard with the 2022 Jeep Grand Wagoneer makes it a very compelling proposition for family buyers. The feature list includes forward collision monitoring, automated emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane departure warning, and lane keeping assist.
The basic features like ABS, airbags, electronic stability control, traction control, automated parking sensors, tire pressure monitoring, and reverse camera are onboard too. However, the 2022 Grand Wagoneer hasn't been crash-tested by both the NHTSA and IIHS yet.
Similar to most of the segment rivals out there, the 2022 Jeep Grand Wagoneer doesn't disappoint in terms of warranty coverage on offer. The limited warranty is for three years or 36,000 miles and the powertrain warranty is for five years or 60,000 miles.
We also liked the impressive complimentary maintenance coverage for three years and unlimited miles. However, the 2022 Jeep Grand Wagoneer received 3 recalls and 9 customer complaints in this short duration of being in sale in the United States. The overall consumer rating of 73 out of 100 in the JD Power survey was quite underwhelming too.

Being priced at $98,640, the 2022 Jeep Grand Wagoneer Series II turned out to be the most value-for-money offering. The long list of standard techs and equipment coupled with more interior color combinations on offer makes it worth the additional $10,000 over the base Series I trim.
The 22" polished aluminum wheels with luster gray pockets and the beefy all-season tires make it stunning to look at from the outside. The premium color tinted glass comes as an option too. This trim also gets a 10.3" touchscreen display for the front seat passenger, leather-trimmed upholstery, a rear seat monitoring system, and more driver-assistance features.
The 6.4-liter naturally aspirated V8 engine under the hood of the 2022 Jeep Grand Wagoneer comes mated to the tried and tested 8-speed torque converter automatic transmission and the AWD drivetrain as standard. This engine produces 471 hp and 455 lb-ft of torque and that helps this SUV to tow close to 8,260 lbs.
The performance numbers and acceleration figures produced by this engine were superior to all the segment rivals. The 0-60 MPH comes in 5.5 seconds and the quarter-mile run takes 13.9 seconds. Both the Cadillac Escalade ESV and the BMW X7 did the same 0-60 MPH run in 5.8 seconds. The Lincoln Navigator did it in 5.9 seconds.
There is also a Hurricane 3.0-liter twin-turbo inline-6 engine producing 510 hp and 500 lb-ft of torque on offer. This engine is a $2,000 option too. Coming with the same 8-speed automatic transmission and a full-time AWD drivetrain, the acceleration times are even better than the V8 engine.
It can tow close to 10,000 lbs when equipped with the HD Trailer Tow package and that is a boon for the folks who haul stuff regularly. However, the fuel efficiency numbers are mediocre even with this forced induction motor.
