On a busy Friday, Sharon Horgan's back on the box with the brilliant Bad Sisters, there’s a Stevie Wonder Night, Dara O Briain pops up on The Last Leg, new series Hobby Man looks at, well, hobbies – and there’s the return of Jackass . . .

Now, here’s an absolute treat.

Sharon Horgan’s latest series is a Dublin-set dark comedy about the Garvey sisters, who are bound together by the premature death of their parents and a promise to always protect one another.

But ever since their sister Grace married John Paul Williams their bond has started to fray. A racist, sexist, selfish, sociopath of a man, the sisters believe their lives would be better off without him in it.

Drunken jokes about killing their brother-in-law suddenly get real when the sisters embark on a plot to get rid of him. Planning a murder might be easy but committing it is another story.

Then when insurance investigator brothers Matt and Thomas Claffin start looking into John Paul’s demise, the murderous actions of the Garvey sisters are thrown into the spotlight and their lives change forever.

As well as Horgan, Bad Sisters’ excellent cast includes Anne-Marie Duff, Eva Birthistle, Sarah Greene and Eve Hewson as the Garvey sisters.

Also featured is Claes Bang as the despised brother-in-law, Brian Gleeson and Daryl McCormack as the Claffin brothers.

The series is adapted and written by Horgan, Brett Baer and David Finkel from the Flemish series Clan, which was shown a few years back on Channel 4 as The Out-Laws.

That, I must add, is also excellent.

The Last Leg, 10.00pm, Channel 4

Adam Hills, Josh Widdicombe and Alex Brooker are joined by our own Dara Ó Briain (above) for a comic review of the significant moments of the past seven days.

Dara was recently in the news himself, when the BBC announced the end of Mock the Week, the panel show he's hosted for many years.

Himself and the gang will round up, examine and explain the leading and most entertaining news stories of the week, as well as some social media-inspred laughs.

Jane Austen’s Sanditon, 9.00pm, UTV/ITV

It’s the penultimate episode of the season, so Lennox and Colbourne's rivalry over Charlotte comes to a head and Georgiana makes a decision that will have a dramatic impact on her future.

Edward's manipulation of Esther takes a dark turn, Alison realises what she has been missing and Tom's woes come to a head as Arthur attempts to come to his rescue.

Stevie Wonder Night on BBC Four

If you’re an insomniac and a Stevie Wonder fan, this is the night for you.

The fun begins with Stevie Wonder at the BBC (10.40pm), a collection of archive performances on the BBC by the American singer-songwriter, musician and record producer.

It includes huge hits such as I Just Called To Say I Love You and Happy Birthday to fan favourites He's Misstra Know-It-All and Love's in Need of Love Today.

Then there’s A Night of Wonder at 11.40pm as Tracey MacLeod introduces a 1995 studio concert for the BBC by Stevie Wonder.

This show features performances of songs including Higher Ground, Superstition, My Cherie Amour, Signed, Sealed, Delivered, You Are the Sunshine of My Life and I Just Called to Say I Love You.

That’s followed by Stevie Wonder: A Musical History (12.45am) where some well-known fans celebrate the man and his music by selecting some of his best-loved songs.

Contributors include Martin Freeman (below), Alexander O'Neal, James Morrison, Beverley Knight and Corinne Bailey Rae, New Order's Gillian Gilbert and Stephen Morris, DJs Ana Matronic, Trevor Nelson and Norman Jay, Heaven's 17's Glenn Gregory and Martyn Ware.

Finally there’s Sings Stevie Wonder at 1.45am, a trawl through the BBC archives, unearthing 50 years of covers of Wonder's classic songbook.

It features artists including Cilla Black, Jimmy Helms, Dionne Warwick, the Osmonds, India Arie and James Morrison.

Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again, 9.35pm, RTÉ One

Frothy Friday night fun here with this Abba-themed musical sequel, starring Amanda Seyfried, Lily James, Pierce Brosnan, Cher and Andy Garcia.
