Most television reception difficulties are caused by problems with antennas, equipment or installation, and can often be easily resolved.
If you can receive all other ABC channels except ABC HD, the most likely cause is your television or set top box is not compatible with high definition broadcasts in MPEG-4. Newer televisions have this capability, but if you are currently unable to watch ABC HD don’t worry – there is no exclusive content on ABC HD. ABC HD is a superior picture quality of the main channel.
Please see our dedicated page about Closed Captions.
Temporarily, you may consider watching ABC over the Internet: iview offers a live broadcast of all ABC TV channels (only available within Australia).
For a longer-term solution, you may be eligible for Viewer Access Satellite Television (VAST).
