CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, Ohio – A screening of “The Guide” is scheduled at Cedar Lee Theatre as a fundraiser for Ukrainian relief efforts.

The screening is 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 26.

The two-hour, seven-minute 2014 film was produced by Ukrainian director Oles Sanin. It’s about a boy trying to survive in the 1930s during Soviet efforts to exterminate the Ukrainian people through starvation and other policies.

Tickets are $15. All proceeds go to Ukrainian relief efforts. Donations also will be accepted via QR codes at the concession stand and box office.

Donations are being administered by the non-profit Human & Civil Rights Organizations of America Inc., which created a Ukraine relief fund called Stand With Ukraine Through Film.

The project began at a community cinema in Salem, Massachusetts. The first U.S. showing raised $12,000. Within days, organizers said, 600 cinemas across the United States agreed to screen it. The project has raised more than $130,000 and has started to issue grants: Initial recipients are José Andrés’ World Central Kitchen, the International Organization on Migration and Plast.

The theater is at 2163 Lee Road, Cleveland Heights.
