Universal Pictures Home Entertainment’s Jurassic World Dominion easily debuted at No. 1 on the NPD VideoScan First Alert chart, which tracks combined DVD and Blu-ray Disc unit sales, and the dedicated Blu-ray Disc sales chart the week ended Aug. 20.

A collection of all six “Jurassic” films was No. 5 on both charts.

The sixth film finds the casts of the original Jurassic Park trilogy and the sequels coming together to stop a corporation from using genetically engineered locusts in a world where dinosaurs once again roam free. It earned $374 million at the domestic box office. The home video editions of Jurassic World Dominion include an extended version of the film.

Blu-ray Disc formats accounted for 66% of standalone Jurassic World Dominion unit sales, with 20% from the 4K Ultra HD version and 46% from regular Blu-ray; the six-movie set saw 68% of its sales from HD formats (22% UHD, 46% BD).

The previous week’s top seller, Paramount’s Sonic the Hedgehog 2, slipped to No. 2 on both charts.

The No. 3 seller, again on both charts, was another thriller from Universal Pictures, The Black Phone, starring Ethan Hawke. In the film, a kidnapped boy finds a phone that allows him to hear from previous victims. It earned $88.9 million at the domestic box office.

The Black Phone had 59% of its sales come from Blu-ray Disc.

No. 4 on both charts was Disney-owned Marvel Studios’ Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, now in its fourth week on shelves.

The Media Play News rental chart for the week ended Aug. 21 also had Dominion at No. 1, with Black Phone at No. 2.

The previous top rental, Sonic 2, slipped to No. 3. Paramount’s The Lost City was No. 4, and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness was No. 5.
