The government has decided to stop broadcasting analog TV broadcasts in 2022. All television shows, be it soap operas, news, sports or favorite programs will gradually be turned off.As for the owners of tube or analog television sets who do not plan to replace the television, it is enough to add a Set Top Box (STB).The government said that the home antenna previously used to capture analog broadcasts also did not need to be replaced. If the television set already has a DVBT2 standard tuner or is already digital, people simply need to re-scan digital TV signals around their homes.Later, digital television will automatically be able to capture and broadcast Digital TV broadcast programs.Minister of Communications and Informatics Johnny G Plate in a Hearing Meeting (RDP) with Commission I of the DPR RI last November asked the public to ensure that they buy Set Top Boxes (STB) which have been certified by the Ministry of Communications and Informatics. The certification mark is a guarantee of compatibility, alignment and optimal function of the device. The list of certified devices can be seen via the link https://certification.postel.go.id/certificate/publish.In addition to this list, the public can also ensure that the product has the 'Ready Digital' logo mark or the Indonesian Digital Mascot (MODI).Johnny explained that every STB device and digital TV set traded in Indonesia must have certification. The certification guarantees the suitability of technology, technical specifications and safety.Because, if the technology or technical specifications are different, then there is a risk. These devices are not necessarily able to capture Digital TV broadcasts in Indonesia optimally.Certification of STB and digital TV equipment also guarantees that the Early Warning System (EWS) function will work. With the certification, the product is guaranteed to function in accordance with broadcasting standards in Indonesia, protecting the public and helping the development of the domestic industry. In addition to certification, there is an obligation for a device to meet the Domestic Content Level (TKDN)."The implementation of the provision for the fulfillment of the TKDN requirement of 20 percent for Digital Video Broadcasting Second Generation Terrestrial (DVBT2) devices," Johnny said in a written statement, Friday (29/4/2022).Meanwhile, the Special Staff of the Minister of Communication and Information, Rosarita Niken Widiastuti, said that later there would be three stages of stopping TV broadcasts. The first stage is April 30, 2022, the second stage is August 25 2022, and the last stage is November 2, 2022. To be able to continue watching television programs, people must switch to digital TV broadcasts."The steps are contained in Ministerial Regulation No. 11/2021 concerning amendments to the Minister of Communication and Information Technology Regulation No. 6/2021 concerning Broadcasting," he said.He conveyed this at a talkshow themed 'Bengkulu Ready for Analog Switch Off (ASO)' last September. To get the benefits of quality TV broadcasts, Rosarita also appealed to the public to immediately switch to Digital TV broadcasts.
